Presentation of UFMPЕ filtration units with control system held at Progress-Ecology JSC site
On March 25, 2026, a presentation of upgraded modular filtration units UFMPЕ with an integrated control system was held at the production site of Progress-Ecology JSC.
The event attracted leading experts from the nuclear industry
The presentation was attended by representatives of key organizations:
• Branches of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC: Kalinin NPP, Leningrad NPP-2, Smolensk NPP
• Karpov Institute of Physical Chemistry (NIFHI) expressed interest in further development of air purification technologies
• Design institutes of Atomenergoproekt JSC assessed the potential for implementing the new solutions in ongoing projects
The central part of the event was a live demonstration of the control system of the UFMPЕ-4000 modular filtration unit.
The control system enables the following functions:
– monitoring airflow through the unit using a flow meter and control damper, with low-flow alerts;
– regulating air temperature and humidity before filtration stages using sensors and an electric heater;
– monitoring filter and mist eliminator contamination via differential pressure measurement across the unit and individual stages, with clogging alerts;
– monitoring system operability and signaling faults in power supply circuits, heater supply, and sensor performance;
– tracking and notifying about upcoming or overdue maintenance activities, including filter replacement, sensor calibration, and scheduled preventive maintenance;
– monitoring heater surface temperature;
– monitoring outlet air temperature for fire detection;
– logging all warnings and аварies in an electronic log;
– transmitting all operational data to the plant control system (PCS), including sensor readings, alarms, and equipment status;
– local start and stop of the unit;
– etc.
Equipping the unit with a control system improves operational reliability and safety, enables predictive maintenance, and reduces the impact of the human factor.
Production site tour
Guests were also given the opportunity to:
• visit production workshops and observe the manufacturing process;
• explore the product range, including aerosol filters and adsorber filters of various designs;
• see finished UFMPЕ units of different capacities and configurations (made of corrosion-resistant steel or carbon steel with protective coating).
Results and feedback
Participants highly appreciated the innovative potential of the presented solution and expressed interest in further cooperation.
Progress-Ecology JSC expresses its gratitude for the interest shown, participation in the presentation, and constructive feedback aimed at improving the control system.
